'AMORIS' Family Programme - Training Event for Parish Family Ministry Teams - 19th October 2017

'AMORIS' Family Programme - Training Event for Parish Family Ministry Teams - 19th October 2017

In preparation for the World Meeting of Families in Dublin, 21 – 26 August 2018, the pastoral team has put together a set of resources for parishes. They are now available on-line at www.amoris.ie and www.worldmeeting2018.ie

A training session is to be held for our Diocese in An Grianan Hotel, Burt on Thursday 19 October 2017. The session will begin at 7.30pm and end at 10pm, and will be conducted by Martin Kennedy, Pastoral Programme Co-ordinator for WMOF2018.

Parishes are asked to contact Fr Pat O'Hagan to confirm attendance by  Friday 29th September 2017 in order to facilitate the provision of resources for everyone who attends.

The resources include the following:

Practical Initiatives for Popular Moments – a menu of 14 activities covering seasonal and family moments across the year, including baptisms, weddings, First Holy Communions, Confirmations, November memorial ceremonies, Christmas, New Year (family resolutions), St. Valentine's Day gift tokens, St. Patrick's Day and so on, up to the summer of next year.

The Joy of Love Parish Conversations – a six-session discussion programme exploring key elements of Pope Francis' document on the family.

Facilitator's guide – a basic orientation for pastoral leaders and local volunteers on how to work with the above resources.

The training night will introduce these resources to parishes and aims to equip small teams of volunteers to organise some of the activities.

Parishes are invited to send along some volunteers who will take responsibility for WMOF preparations in the parish. The session should equip them to take some practical initiatives according to their own judgment on what is desirable or feasible.

Alternatively, people already in leadership roles may attend, with a view to providing training for volunteers back in the parish.
