Look and take in...

This is a summary of a 40 minutes prayer walk that can be found on App called 'pray as you go.' It is from the British Provence of the Jesuits.

This walk is a way of being present to creation and to God. It is a prayer walk.

Take a moment to be present to yourself and see/feel how you are just now before you begin. (There is no rush, don't jump into it, take your time and slow down).

Make or form an intention before you set out. What do you want or hope for from this walk?

What do you need most at this time or moment in your life?

Take time to let that come to you. Then make a prayer of that intention. (e.g 'Lord I want some peace or joy or healing or guidance in some matter or whatever it is.

Thank You and please help me and be with me'). Whatever your prayer intention is it can be good to actually say it in words.

Have a sense of beginning now and stepping out the door and over a threshold… into a new, receptive and open space.

Pay attention to everything in the outside world. Notice things…everything… as you walk along… whatever catches your attention. Notice your body and your feet taking steps…that you are breathing in and out… Notice the air on your face, the breeze perhaps. Notice perhaps the trees… the grasses… the flowers…the birds or bird….the people…the animals… the clouds….even the rain! There is a wonderful mystery unfolding before your eyes…'the many-splendor'd thing'.

You look…you listen to sounds… you notice smells… you might want to pick something up…like a flower or leaf… to touch and feel.

You are trying to allow your wonder, awe and curiosity to be evoked. There is no work or task to be done … just to pay attention to things around you… as you walk or stop or sit or move on.

While doing this you are also paying attention to yourself, your re-actions, your feelings… you feel what this is like for you as you wander and stroll along, just being attentive, open and receptive.

As you come to the end of your walk you might like to ask yourself 'what is particularly staying with me?' 'Where have you noticed or seen or felt God around you or with you?'Or 'How has God been present on this walk with you today?'

You might like to talk to God about this as one friend to Another. You could end with an Our Father or Glory be.

Enjoy your walk!

The One.

If Earth

If the Earth were only a few feet in diameter, floating a few feet above a field somewhere, people would come from everywhere to marvel at it.

People would walk around it marvelling at its big pools of water, its little pools and the water flowing between. People would marvel at the bumps on it and the holes in it. They would marvel at the very thin layer of gas surrounding it and the water suspended in the gas.

The people would marvel at all the creatures walking around the surface of the ball and the creatures in the water. The people would declare it as sacred because it was the only one, and they would protect it so that it would not be hurt.

The ball would be the greatest wonder known, and people would come to pray to it, to be healed, to gain knowledge, to know beauty and to wonder how it could be.
People would love it and defend it with their lives because they would somehow know that their lives could be nothing without it. If the earth were only a few feet in diameter.
