Each year pilgrims from across the Diocese of Derry travel to Lough Derg – St Patrick's Purgatory, one of Ireland's most ancient places of prayer and pilgrimage.

The diocese will again undertake the Three-Day Pilgrimage to Lough Derg from Friday 24 July to Sunday 26 July 2026, offering people an opportunity to step away from the pace of daily life, deepen their faith and join others in prayer on this sacred island.

Lough Derg has welcomed pilgrims for centuries and continues to be a place where people come seeking prayer, reflection and renewal. Pilgrims from across the diocese travel together each year to share in this unique spiritual experience.

Details and booking information will be published after Easter 2026.

Save the date:
Friday 24 – Sunday 26 July 2026

Many people who make the pilgrimage to Lough Derg speak of it as a powerful experience of prayer, silence and renewal. Some return year after year, while others come for the first time seeking space to reflect and deepen their faith.
